James MacMillan

James MacMillan is the pre-eminent Scottish composer of his generation, producing exciting new music which combines strong rhythm, raw emotional power and spiritual meditation. His music shows a strong connection with religious and social themes.

He first attracted major attention at the 1990 BBC Proms in the UK, with the premičre of The Confession of Isobel Gowdie. His most widely-known work to date, however, is his percussion concerto Veni, Veni, Emmanuel (1992), which has received over 350 performances!
